What Makes a Wing?

Pick a flying bird (not all birds fly), insect, and mammal and make models of each creature's wings. What are the differences and why does each creature have different wings? What are the similarities? Compare all three wings to that of an airplane. What are the differences and similaries? Is there anything about the "living" wings you researched that might improve airplane wings?
