Postcards from Home
 |
Ask students to research the historical landmarks, geographic features, and wildlife (plants, flowers, animals, and insects) in their area and design their own line of postcards. Their postcards must not only be informative, they must also be appealing enough for people to want to buy them. Students can use heavy stock unlined index cards or plain note cards. They should illustrate the front and write a brief description of their illustration on the back. The class may want to consider having the post cards printed and selling them to local merchants, donating proceeds to a favorite charity. They could also use the postcards in a penpal exchange.
