A House on Paper?
 |
Locate blueprints of different buildings from local architects, builders, or high school drafting classes. Have students explore the blueprints and discuss the symbols, labels, and scaling of a structure. Give each student a piece of drafting paper and have him/her draw a blueprint of the classroom. After students become familiar with blueprints and the concept of scaling, ask them to draw a blueprint of their current home. When these illustrations are finished, display them in the classroom.
Variation:
- Invite students to design their own dream house. Have them draw the interior and exterior views of their homes.
