Become a Moon Watcher

Ask students to keep track of the moon's shape, size, color, and position in the sky by recording their observations in a notebook or journal. Have students watch the moon for one month or through one moon cycle (new moon, first quarter, half moon, full moon, last quarter). After the month-long period of moon watching, discuss the importance of the moon, its effect on the earth, and how people use the information that they gathered in their journals.
