The Missing Story
 |
In fables, morals or adages are stated at the end to reiterate the main point of the story. Divide students up into groups of four and give each group a written moral such as "Prepare today for the needs of tomorrow," "Don't throw the baby out with the bath water," or "Don't count your chickens before they hatch." Have each group create a short fable that best illustrates the moral. Remind students that most fables feature animal characters, but encourage them to select unique settings (times and places) and personalities. After the groups have written their fables, invite each group to perform a narrated version of their tale.
