Quests:

  • Why was Egypt such a prosperous and advanced society? What natural and man-made conditions allowed this civilization to thrive? What causes led to the downfall and eventual disappearance of the once thriving ancient Egyptian civilization?
  • D o you think the Egyptians had the right idea in creating a society without money? Why or why not? Describe the barter system. Was it successful? Why or why not?
  • What role did the Nile River play in ancient Egyptian life? Discuss the benefits and drawbacks of living next to the Nile River.
  • What rights did women and children have in ancient Egyptian society? How do these rights compare to those women and children hold in today's Egyptian society? Why have the noses of so many Egyptian statues been removed? Who was responsible for removing them?
  • Discuss the ethics of removing artifacts from an archaeology site as the British did when excavating Egyptian sites.
  • Discuss the social and political order of ancient Egyptian society. Who was in charge? Who made laws? How were laws enforced?
